Actor Kwon Yul, who married a non-celebrity last May, is set to make a special appearance alongside Kim Sang-kyung in MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Fifties Professionals'.
Following the series '21st Century Grand Prince', MBC's new drama 'Fifties Professionals' (planned by Kwon Sung-chang/directed by Han Dong-hwa/written by Jang Won-seop/produced by Jumbo Film, Studio Dragon) tells the story of three seemingly ordinary men who are driven by fate to take action once more. Despite being battered by the world and physically worn out, these men, who have lived through 50% of their lives, remain loyal and instinctive in this gritty action comedy.
On the 5th, the 'Fifties Professionals' team released character stills of Kim Sang-kyung and Kwon Yul, showcasing their dynamic roles. Kim Sang-kyung plays 'Han Kyung-wook', a former top-tier black agent of the National Intelligence Service, known by the codename 'Shadow', who was a generation ahead of Jung Ho-myung (played by Shin Ha-kyun). Han Kyung-wook, who becomes entangled in power and wealth, establishes a vast criminal network through illicit dealings with North Korea. He then enters politics, aiming to transform Youngseon Island into Asia's largest hub of pleasure and crime to gain even more power and wealth.
Kwon Yul takes on the role of 'Chairman Do', Han Kyung-wook's sponsor. Chairman Do boasts a perfect exterior with his glamorous appearance, eloquence, and background as a graduate of a prestigious overseas university. However, he is merely a puppet under Han Kyung-wook's command, living in fear of being discarded at any moment.
In the released stills, Han Kyung-wook is seen sitting at his desk, engaged in a phone call, exuding a chilling yet composed aura with his sharp, contemplative gaze. This raises interest in the multifaceted transformation and future actions of Han Kyung-wook, who has shifted from a black agent to a greed-driven politician. Another still shows Chairman Do enjoying brunch while reading a newspaper, with a meaningful smile suggesting amusement at the unfolding events, sparking curiosity about his character. Anticipation builds for the role Chairman Do will play as Han Kyung-wook's sponsor and shadow.
The production team of MBC's 'Fifties Professionals' stated, "The special appearances of Kim Sang-kyung and Kwon Yul were made possible through their connection with director Han Dong-hwa. Both actors will add intensity to the drama with their exceptional acting skills. We invite viewers to watch how the truth of 'that day's incident', buried for 10 years, unfolds and how these two characters interact with Shin Ha-kyun, Oh Jung-se, and Heo Sung-tae."
Meanwhile, MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Fifties Professionals' will premiere on May 22 at 9:50 PM.
