Seo Ji-hye Captivates Audiences with Intense Revenge in 'Reverse'

Seo Ji-hye delivers a gripping performance filled with intense revenge in the latest episodes of the Wavve original series 'Reverse'.

In episodes 5 and 6, released on the 1st, Seo Ji-hye showcases a range of emotions, from calmness to fury. Her character, Ham Myo-jin, is kidnapped by mysterious men while on her way to meet Wang Ki-chul (played by Yoon Je-moon) at a redevelopment building. She wakes up in the home she shares with Ryu Jun-ho (played by Go Soo) only to find all her phone records and messages erased. Myo-jin receives a seemingly concerned interrogation from Ria (played by Hwang Se-in), questioning her reasons for visiting such a dangerous area. Once Ria leaves, Myo-jin's expression turns cold, hinting at her distrust. Seo Ji-hye masterfully portrays Myo-jin's cautiousness and the psychological tension as she hides her true intentions from Ryu Jun-ho and Ria.

Myo-jin's distrust deepens when she discovers she has been taking medication for severe mental illness, contrary to her doctor's claim of only needing basic treatment. Ria's insistence on taking the medication and reporting her progress to Ryu Jun-ho further fuels Myo-jin's suspicions. Pretending to comply, Myo-jin secretly spits out the pills and makes a daring escape by jumping from the second-floor balcony, evading those who seem to be monitoring her every move. Seo Ji-hye's portrayal of Myo-jin's fear and determination captivates viewers.

Myo-jin's pursuit of the truth gains momentum. Despite injuring herself from the balcony jump, she perseveres and drives away from the house for the first time since a previous explosion incident. A glance at the scar on her left wrist triggers memories of her attempt to kill Wang Ki-chul two years ago.

In a flashback, Myo-jin is seen wielding a knife against Wang Ki-chul, who retaliates fiercely, leaving her bloodied but undeterred in her quest for revenge. During their intense confrontation, Myo-jin learns that Wang Ki-chul falsely confessed to killing her parents under the orders of Mono Group's Chairman Choi Young-ho (played by Nam Kyung-eup). Despite Wang's taunts, Myo-jin vows to end things herself, promising a brutal conclusion. Her proactive actions heighten the suspense and anticipation for the next developments.

Towards the end of the episodes, Seo Ji-hye unleashes Myo-jin's pent-up anger, elevating the drama's intensity. Myo-jin tracks down a restaurant owner who provided food to a villa on the day of the explosion, seeking information on Ryu Jun-ho's whereabouts. She then visits an atelier where she spends time with Choi Hee-soo (played by Kim Jae-kyung) and, upon seeing a painting of herself and Hee-soo, throws a chair at it, expressing her complex emotions. The intertwining of her past plea to Wang Ki-chul and her current reckless actions draws attention to the impending climax of her revenge.

Seo Ji-hye's fearless performance enhances the quality of this well-crafted genre series. Her nuanced portrayal of complex emotions adds depth to the narrative, leaving viewers eagerly anticipating the next episodes.

Seo Ji-hye's performance can be seen every Friday at 11 AM on the Wavve original series 'Reverse'.
