Yoon Bok-hee Opens Up About Shocking Family History and Personal Struggles
Renowned singer Yoon Bok-hee, 80, has revealed shocking details about her family history.

On the October 2nd episode of MBN's 'Kim Joo-ha's Day & Night,' Yoon Bok-hee discussed rumors surrounding her, her marriage, and her family history.

During the show, Kim Joo-ha mentioned, “There were strange rumors about you not having children. There were stories that you had given birth.”

Yoon Bok-hee responded, “The reason is that when I had cancer surgery, I was in my mid-thirties.” She continued, “Since the surgery was at a gynecologist, it was natural for such rumors to arise.”

Yoon Bok-hee also talked about her past contracts during her career. She said, “When signing contracts, others were fine, but I couldn’t change. Even if I got married, I couldn’t have children,” hinting at the restrictions on pregnancy and childbirth at the time.

When Kim Joo-ha asked, “Was there ever a time you were pregnant?” Yoon Bok-hee revealed, “Such contracts were common abroad. I had abortions. At that time, I didn’t know about contraception. Neither my husband nor I knew. I had about four surgeries because I kept getting pregnant.”

She added, “After I embraced religion, the thing I repented the most was that. It’s akin to murder.”

Yoon Bok-hee also shared her tragic family history from her childhood. She said, “My father was hospitalized due to opium addiction. My mother went to perform to earn the hospital fees and died of a heart attack. I was 7, and my mother was 30.”

She also mentioned, “I received the Best Performance Award at the World International Song Festival in Hawaii. Winning a performance award as a singer is truly meaningful. But when they called my name for the grand prize, there was no one to share it with. It was bittersweet.”

Regarding her health, Yoon Bok-hee stated, “I have macular degeneration, so one of my eyes doesn’t see well. It’s hereditary. I warned my brother, but he said it’s already affected him.”

Meanwhile, Yoon Bok-hee divorced Yoo Joo-yong in 1975 after 10 years of marriage and remarried singer Nam Jin in 1976, only to separate after three years.
