A couple's clash over financial issues on 'Divorce Consideration Camp' prompted a sharp critique from Seo Jang-hoon.
On the October 30th episode of JTBC's 'Divorce Consideration Camp,' an 8-year married couple with three children, known as the 'talkative couple,' made an appearance.
During the show, Park Ha-sun observed, “Unhappy families are all alike. The wife here seems very pitiable,” as she watched the situation unfold.
In the video, the wife revealed, “My husband believes that men should work outside and women should handle household chores,” exposing her 33-year-old husband's patriarchal values.
She continued, “Even just a generation ago, it was common for men to be patriarchal and live traditionally. In our family, the man is the pillar.”
The wife, exposing the 'double standard in financial control,' stated, “My husband earns 4 million won a month, while I earn 2.5 million won. I spend about 1 million won more on living expenses.”
She lamented, “My husband spends an average of 1 to 1.5 million won a month on alcohol. I only drink a 2,000 won coffee every morning, yet he complains about it. Even if I drink it every day for a month, it’s only 60,000 won. He spends 60,000 won in one night out drinking.”
The husband told her, “Why buy coffee when we have a coffee machine? Brew it yourself,” but it was revealed that the machine was a gift from her family. Seo Jang-hoon retorted, “Sell the coffee machine.”
Seo Jang-hoon further criticized, “How can you complain about her 2,000 won coffee when you spend 1.5 million won? It’s a double standard. Reflect on yourself.”
Seeing the wife accept the situation without any rebuttal, Seo Jang-hoon remarked, “She’s choosing to live her life as a ‘self-inflicted victim.’” Jin Tae-hyun also expressed surprise, saying, “She understands him completely.”
Park Ha-sun also expressed her frustration, saying, “Why don’t you tell him to cut back too?”
