In June of last year, Park appeared on Channel A's 'Oh Eun-young's Golden Counseling Center' where he opened up about a painful experience he endured 50 years ago.
Park revealed, “I was a victim of molestation when I was around 6 or 7 years old. At the time, I didn’t understand what it was. It was only during puberty, when I learned about sexuality, that I realized it was molestation.”
He continued, “No one ever asked me about it, and neither my parents nor my wife knew. As I grew older, I was filled with a sense of revenge.”
Park also expressed, “After having a child, I hoped my child would never experience such pain. I wanted to speak out about what was wrong, even now. It’s something I will never forget until the end of my life,” he said tearfully.
During the broadcast, psychiatrist Dr. Oh Eun-young commented, “Such experiences are unforgettable. I believe you shared this because you are a father. You wanted to speak out against what is wrong to protect and safeguard children.”
Park later reflected, “I considered asking for that part to be removed, but I’m glad I spoke honestly. I did nothing wrong, and I hope this never happens to anyone else.”
According to police, Park was found deceased at a restaurant he was preparing to open, with the cause of death yet to be disclosed. Just days prior, on the 24th, he had shared plans to open a Korean restaurant in early May, making the news of his sudden death all the more shocking.
Park first gained recognition in the 1998 film 'Shiri' and continued his career with roles in 'Taegukgi', 'The Huntresses', and dramas such as 'The Age of Wild Men', 'Dae Jo-yeong', 'Sungkyunkwan Scandal', 'Gwanggaeto, The Great Conqueror', 'Surviving as a Celebrity Manager', and 'The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun'.
In 2020, Park married actress Lee Sang-yi, and in January 2023, they welcomed a daughter. Previously, Park had shared the heartbreaking news that his daughter was born with a congenital heart defect.
