According to reports from TenAsia on the 29th, CIX is likely to end their activities as a four-member group before their 7th anniversary. Originally debuting as a five-member boy group in July 2019, CIX was formed after Bae Jin-young returned to C9 Entertainment following the conclusion of Wanna One's official activities. The group consists of members BX, Seunghun, Yonghee, and Hyunsuk, with Bae Jin-young as the central figure.
CIX made a remarkable debut, achieving their first music show win just seven days after releasing their debut album's title track, 'Movie Star.' They have consistently released albums annually, expanding their global fanbase with activities in both Korea and Japan.
Yonghee's upcoming military enlistment next month coincides with the timing of the group's contract renewal discussions, adding a new variable to the situation. Born in 2000, Yonghee is the third oldest member, following BX (born in 1998) and Seunghun (born in 1999), and will fulfill his military duties first.
Seunghun, like BX, was also a former YG trainee and gained recognition through 'YG Treasure Box.' He trained for nearly a decade, including time at Cube Entertainment, before successfully debuting as an idol. Seunghun serves as the main vocalist of the group and won 'Build Up: Vocal Boy Group Survival,' participating in the project group B.D.U.
Hyunsuk, the main dancer and sub-vocalist, is an all-rounder member known for his impressive height of 186.9cm. He has pursued acting alongside his idol activities, appearing in dramas such as 'When You Fall for a Bully,' 'The World You Fall Into,' 'The Chairman is a 9th Grader,' and 'Me, Myself, and I.' With CIX's recent developments, there is speculation about Hyunsuk potentially transitioning to an acting-focused agency.
Debuting during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, CIX leaves behind key milestones such as Bae Jin-young's new beginning post-Wanna One, being an all-Korean group, and being the first boy group planned by C9 Entertainment. As they reach their 8th year, CIX members are set to embark on individual paths.
