Kim Tae-won, a member of the legendary Korean band Boohwal, has expressed his satisfaction with his foreign son-in-law. Previously, Kim was unable to attend his daughter's wedding in the United States due to a visa denial stemming from past marijuana convictions.
On October 24, Kim Tae-won shared a video titled 'Daughter's Marriage, Father's Last... and Resurrection' on his YouTube channel 'Kim Tae-won Class.' This personal video marks his first upload in a year and a half since his last in October 2024.
Kim explained, "I was hospitalized four times over the past year and a half," shedding light on his absence from the public eye. He added, "Even during repeated hospital treatments, I couldn't shake off the guilt about Boohwal's 14th album," indicating his continued passion for music. Kim also shared the sad news of his father's passing last fall, stating, "My father's death was a tremendous shock," and expressed his desire to create comforting music in his father's memory.
Updating on his daughter's life, Kim showed his 'daughter fool' side, saying, "My daughter is doing well in the U.S. She couldn't thrive in Korea, but she seems like a different person, very bright in America." When asked about his first impression of his son-in-law, Kim replied, "It's not about having a lot of money. What's important is how much he cherishes and loves my daughter. Considering that, I think we found a good son-in-law. We're blessed."
The news of Kim Seo-hyun, Kim's daughter, marrying an American was previously highlighted on TV. Last year, Kim Tae-won appeared on TV Chosun's 'Joseon's Love' and shared his story of being unable to attend his daughter's wedding due to a visa denial. Kim was previously convicted twice for marijuana use in 1987 and 1991. Due to these 40-year-old convictions, his visa application was denied, and he expressed his regret towards his daughter. Subsequently, Seo-hyun and her husband held a simple traditional wedding ceremony in Korea.
