On the 27th, Choi took to his Instagram to post a message saying, "I will not be in 'The Outlaws 5'. I'm busy. I can't even take on all the projects coming my way. So please stop asking~" along with a photo.
The photo humorously reimagines the repeated questions from fans in a poster format. The poster includes phrases like '1. Why aren't you in The Outlaws?', '2. Are you in The Outlaws 5?', and '3. Why not?'.
Choi also provided answers to these questions. To the first question, he replied, "I'm just tired of playing the same role." For the second question, he expressed frustration, saying, "I said I'm not in it! I wasn't in 3 or 4, so why would I be in 5?" To the third question, he stated, "Surprisingly, I choose my projects carefully. I actually get a lot of offers. Please stop asking." This officially confirms his absence from 'The Outlaws 5'.
Choi Gwi-hwa appeared in 'The Outlaws' (2017) and 'The Outlaws 2' (2022). However, due to his unique character and immersive acting in the series, some fans are still hoping for his return in 'The Outlaws 5'.
Meanwhile, 'The Outlaws 5', which will not feature Choi, is set to be released next year. The film will star Ma Dong-seok, who is also the producer, and introduce actor Kim Jae-young as the new villain.
