On the upcoming episode of SBS's 'My Ugly Duckling' (hereafter 'My Ugly Duckling'), airing on the 26th, viewers will be treated to a chaotic travelogue featuring Heo Kyung-hwan, Kim Jun-ho, Choi Jin-hyuk, and Yuk Joong-wan in Tongyeong.
Recently, Kim Jun-ho expressed his desire for a personal space, leading him to Tongyeong with the intention of purchasing an entire island far from Seoul. Fellow married man Yuk Joong-wan empathized, saying, "I also wanted to buy an island," as Kim sought a reason to escape home. As Kim Jun-ho dreamt of a Korean version of 'Bora Bora Island,' mentioning Hollywood stars who own islands, Heo Kyung-hwan humorously pointed out, "You don't have the money," to which Kim retorted, "If I cash out my stocks now, I can afford it," reportedly angering his mother-in-law.
Heo Kyung-hwan, a native of Tongyeong, volunteered to guide Kim Jun-ho around the local infrastructure to dissuade him from impulsively buying an island. At the traditional market, the group was surprised by Heo's popularity, reminiscent of an election campaign. The enthusiastic merchants, who greeted Heo with his catchphrases, led to exclamations of "Is this a village of catchphrases?" Even Heo's extended family, from his eighth cousin to the granddaughter of his father's female friend, seemed to be everywhere.
Heo Kyung-hwan shared, "Bringing a girlfriend to Tongyeong means marriage," revealing the challenges of being a local superstar. He also confessed, "I once tried to secretly bring a girlfriend to Tongyeong but failed," hinting at a mysterious obstacle that thwarted his romance, sparking curiosity about what could have stood in his way.
'My Ugly Duckling' airs on the 26th at 9 PM.
