Comedian Jung Chul-kyu Opens Up About Disappearance from TV and Personal Struggles

Comedian Jung Chul-kyu, known for his catchphrase 'Boss, you're bad' from the character 'Blanca', has revealed why he suddenly disappeared from television.

On the October 23rd episode of MBN's 'Special World', Jung Chul-kyu shared updates on his life. He gained attention with his 'Blanca' character on the comedy show 'Gag Concert'.

However, his time in the spotlight was short-lived. Jung explained, "I was popular for about a year and two months, but people around me kept saying, 'You need to erase the Blanca image to survive. You need to create a new character.' I started to hate Blanca because of that."

Things took a turn for the worse. He recalled, "Until two years ago, I would come home late at night and drink instead of eating. I was in the early stages of alcoholism, depression, drug addiction, and sleeping pill addiction."

He also experienced changes in his lifestyle. Showing a notebook filled with writing, he said, "When my mental state was shaky, writing down my resolutions relieved my stress. That's when I started keeping a journal."

Jung also discussed his income. "At that time, I earned about 35 million won for a bus ad and 15 to 20 million won for a radio ad, and I did several of them," he said. "It was a lot of money for someone young, but I didn't know how the settlement worked, and I didn't take much home."

He mentioned contract issues as well. "I joined as a special recruit, so I didn't know much about the contract terms," he explained.

His activities gradually decreased. Jung said, "After the lawsuit, I went into hiding alone and became depressed, which affected my work."

When asked about his lowest income, he revealed, "The least I earned was 47,500 won in a month, and a single radio appearance was my only schedule," shocking many.

After a long period of seclusion and battling his issues, Jung Chul-kyu is now looking to make a comeback while cherishing his daily life with his wife.
