Singer and actress IU has put an end to rumors of a rift with the couple Lee Hyori and Lee Sang-soon.
On the 21st, the YouTube channel 'Idol Radio Universe' released a video titled 'IU, the Human Cherry Blossom, Appears! Radio Behind-the-Scenes with the Boss After a Long Time.' In the video, IU visited the MBC radio studio and reunited with singer Lee Sang-soon after about nine years. Lee Sang-soon warmly greeted IU, saying, "It's been a long time."
IU handed over a prepared gift, saying, "Share it with your wife. It's yakgwa," showing her thoughtfulness towards Lee Sang-soon's wife, singer Lee Hyori. Lee Sang-soon also gifted IU chocolates, asking, "Do you still eat sweet things these days?" creating a warm atmosphere.
In an interview with the production team, IU shared, "I know both of them tend to sleep early, but they said they would watch the drama '21st Century Grand Lady,' which was touching." She added, "I will remember the boss's warm heart as I eat each chocolate. I'm always very grateful and have a lot of affection for them."
Previously, Lee Hyori and IU met as boss and part-time worker on the 2017 JTBC variety show 'Hyori's Homestay.' At one point, rumors of discord arose due to the perceived lack of interaction between them compared to other cast members and the fact that they did not follow each other on social media. However, in October last year, Lee Hyori appeared on the web variety show 'Pinggye-go' and directly mentioned, "There are people who take care of me, like Yoo Jae-suk, Hong Hyun-hee, and IU. I'm very grateful to those who take care of me, even in small ways," dismissing the rumors of discord.
Meanwhile, IU stars in '21st Century Grand Lady,' a romance drama set in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy in Korea. It tells the story of Seong Hee-joo (played by IU), a woman who has everything but is frustrated by her commoner status, and Lee An-daegun (played by Byun Woo-seok), a prince who is sad because he can't have anything, as they navigate their destinies and break down social barriers.
The 5th episode of '21st Century Grand Lady' will air on the 24th at 9:50 PM on MBC.
