In a recent interview, Lee Ga-seop, who stars in the ENA Monday-Tuesday drama 'Climax', shared insights into his role and the series. Contrary to the intense image he portrays on screen, Lee appeared composed and thoughtful as he discussed his character and the storyline.
'Climax' follows the story of prosecutor Bang Tae-seop, played by Ju Ji-hoon, who becomes entangled in a power cartel in his quest to reach the top in South Korea. Lee Ga-seop plays Park Jae-sang, a character whose obsessive love for top star Choo Sang-ah, portrayed by Ha Ji-won, leads to his downfall.
In the drama, Park Jae-sang is a man who destroys himself with his relentless love for Choo Sang-ah, unable to sever his emotions even as he realizes he cannot have her. After his release from prison, he attempts to bring the truth of the events to light through a famous YouTuber, only to meet a tragic end.
Lee Ga-seop commented, "Initially, it was a love that started from a genuine desire to protect her." He continued, "However, it was a misguided form of love, and those feelings gradually became distorted. Despite that, the core of his love for Sang-ah remained unchanged. To me, it was an unwavering love."
He further reflected, "Without the emotion of love, I would have chosen revenge much earlier. Even when I met Sang-ah again after being released from prison, I wouldn't have called her 'noona'. Despite it being a misguided form of love, the desire for her to return to me was stronger than the desire for revenge."
