Former Baseball Stars Take on Coaching Roles in 'Our Neighborhood Baseball Captain'
Former professional baseball players Kim Tae-kyun, Na Ji-wan, Park Yong-taek, and Lee Dae-ho, collectively known as 'KimNaBakYi,' have taken on the roles of youth baseball team coaches in the new show 'Our Neighborhood Baseball Captain.' The program, reminiscent of KBS's 'Fly, Shoot Dori,' is drawing attention for its potential to discover the next big baseball star.

On October 10th, an online press conference for KBS2's variety show 'Our Neighborhood Baseball Captain' was held, attended by coaches Park Yong-taek, Lee Dae-ho, Kim Tae-kyun, Na Ji-wan, and producer Lee Jung-wook.

'Our Neighborhood Baseball Captain' features KBO legends forming teams with U-10 youth players from their respective hometowns and competing in actual league matches. Park Yong-taek, Lee Dae-ho, Kim Tae-kyun, and Na Ji-wan are making their debuts as coaches, transforming into scouts and leaders for aspiring young baseball talents.

Lee Dae-ho, who leads the Busan Little Giants team, expressed his excitement, saying, "I was thrilled to receive the call for 'Our Neighborhood Baseball Captain.' It's an honor to teach young players and wear the Giants logo again. I accepted the offer because I want to contribute to the growth of these kids."

Reflecting on his coaching experience, Lee noted, "It's definitely different from my youth. The kids aren't afraid of coaches; they're always cheerful, and it's rewarding to see their skills improve each week."

Last month, it was revealed that Lee Dae-ho's son, Lee Ye-seung, participated in the tryouts for 'Our Neighborhood Baseball Captain.' Lee commented, "Yes, he participated. I observed him as a fourth-grade player, not as my son. I was more critical because I wanted to ensure he was selected based on merit."

He added, "I believe the Little Tigers team excels in fundamentals. It reminded me of the saying, 'Baseball is Gwangju.'"

Park Yong-taek, who coaches the Seoul Little Twins team, shared, "I've always thought a program like this would be great. I hope 'Our Neighborhood Baseball Captain' encourages more kids to start baseball in a good environment." He also expressed his wish for the show to discover a talent like Lee Kang-in from 'Fly, Shoot Dori.'

Kim Tae-kyun, coaching the Chungcheong Little Eagles team, stated, "I've been interested in expanding youth baseball since retiring, and I'm grateful to be part of this great program by KBS. I hope these young players become the foundation of professional baseball and contribute to its growth."

When asked about the show's highlights, Lee mentioned, "The adorable and pure-hearted kids. Their emotions are genuine; they cry when upset and laugh when happy. Viewers will be able to immerse themselves in these moments."

'Our Neighborhood Baseball Captain' premieres on October 12th at 9:20 PM.
