Set to premiere on May 11, Tving's original series 'The Legendary Cook' is a military cooking fantasy drama that follows Private Kang Sung-jae, who trades his rifle for a kitchen knife and his ammo belt for an apron, as he transforms into a legendary cook.
Based on a popular Naver webtoon, the series stars Park Ji-hoon, who rose to fame as a million-ticket actor through 'The Man Who Lives with the King' in 2026, as Kang Sung-jae. The cast also includes Yoon Kyung-ho as Park Jae-young, Han Dong-hee as Jo Ye-rin, and Lee Hong-nae as Yoon Dong-hyun, with Lee Sang-yi making a special appearance as Hwang Seok-ho.
The script reading session was a unique sight with actors dressed in military uniforms. As it was the first gathering, the actors exchanged warm greetings with excitement. The session, held on June 25, began with a moment of silence to honor fallen soldiers, adding a solemn touch before diving into the reading.
Park Ji-hoon showcased the character's kind and strong-willed nature, as well as the confusion brought on by sudden mysterious phenomena, hinting at the thrilling challenges his character will face. His portrayal of a newly transferred private with strict military discipline promises a refreshing transformation from his previous intense roles.
Yoon Kyung-ho impressed with his mastery of the character's signature strong dialect. Han Dong-hee, playing Lieutenant Jo Ye-rin, exuded calm charisma, embodying a character who stands against injustice with strength and grace, promising a true display of military girl crush.
The production team stated, "Seeing the passion and chemistry of the actors during the script reading, we are confident that our work will bring positive energy to viewers. Look forward to an incredibly entertaining and delightful military drama this spring."
'The Legendary Cook' will premiere on May 11 at 8:50 PM on Tving and tvN.
