Seo In-young reflected on her biological mother, saying, "I took care of my sick mom. She passed away from a stroke before turning 60. Despite her poor health, she hid her illness and disliked going to the hospital. Later, I found medical records in her bag."

She continued, "She was conscious but couldn't open her eyes, and we missed the golden time. My sibling rushed there first, and I told her, 'Mom, I'll protect you,' but I heard she only shed tears," adding, "She was in the hospital for about 10 days." Seo also mentioned, "Due to COVID-19, visits were difficult, and I could only briefly enter before she passed. I had to be ready to go in immediately when notified of her critical condition, so I waited in protective gear."

Seo expressed regret for not being able to be there at her mother's passing. "I was 30 minutes late because I was traveling from Seoul, so I couldn't witness her final moments," she said. "During those 10 days, I barely slept, constantly waiting to rush over when called."

Seo In-young shared, "When I received a call about her critical condition, I read a letter to my mother. I said, 'I'll take good care of my sibling, I'm sorry for not doing more for you. Please be born as my daughter in the next life.'" She also revealed, "At that time, I was on medication and almost experienced aphasia. I couldn't speak at all. I feel sorry for showing her only my difficult side at the end."

While heading to Gapyeong, Seo In-young remarked, "The term 'stepmother' sounds unnecessarily sad. It's not a bad meaning, but the word 'stepmother' carries a negative image. I want to change that perception." She continued, "I grew up well, and my stepmother made a tremendous effort," expressing her gratitude. Seo added, "My stepmother didn't have biological children. I think she made that choice to avoid any potential discrimination against us. As I get older, I realize how great a sacrifice that was. I was so immature to think it was natural back then."
