On the October 9th episode of tvN STORY's 'Parenting Intern,' Lee Kyung-kyu and Ahn Jung-hwan, both with no prior parenting experience, were shown receiving training before embarking on their childcare challenge.
During the episode, Lee Kyung-kyu mentioned, “My daughter has been married for six years, so there’s a high possibility I’ll become a grandfather,” expressing his anticipation for 'twilight parenting.'
Previously, Lee Kyung-kyu's daughter, Lee Ye-rim, appeared on his YouTube channel 'God Kyung-kyu' and candidly shared her thoughts on having children. She admitted, “I’m not really fond of babies. I only find puppies cute, so I haven’t thought about having a baby yet.”
She further explained, “I feel a strong sense of responsibility. It’s hard enough to raise a puppy, let alone a human being,” sparking discussions about her consideration of a child-free lifestyle.
When Ahn Jung-hwan asked if he would engage in 'twilight parenting,' Lee Kyung-kyu replied, “I should help. I want to support Ye-rim and show her 'this is how it’s done.' But I don’t know anything about it. I only know how to raise dogs,” he confessed.
Lee Kyung-kyu and Ahn Jung-hwan then shared how they saved their daughters' names on their phones. Ahn Jung-hwan humorously revealed he saved his daughter's name as 'Pretty Woman,' while Lee Kyung-kyu simply saved his daughter's name as 'Lee Ye-rim,' prompting laughter. Ahn Jung-hwan jokingly remarked, “Isn’t that a bit formal?”
Lee Kyung-kyu called his daughter to gauge her reaction to 'twilight parenting.' When Ahn Jung-hwan asked, “If Ye-rim has a beautiful child, would she entrust them to her father?” Lee Ye-rim humorously responded, “I’m not sure,” indicating her reluctance.
Respecting his daughter's stance, Lee Kyung-kyu stated, “If they don’t have children after marriage, there’s nothing we can do, but if they’re married, I think having children is right. However, I have no intention of pressuring them.” He also reiterated his willingness to help raise a child.
Meanwhile, Lee Ye-rim, born in 1994, is a former actress who married FC Anyang soccer player Kim Young-chan in 2021, marking their sixth year of marriage this year.
