On the October 7th episode of JTBC's 'Hidden Singer 8', Younha appeared as the original singer, competing against five talented impersonators.
MC Jun Hyun-moo introduced Younha as a top-priority guest, raising expectations. Younha expressed her excitement about appearing on 'Hidden Singer', her father's favorite show. Reflecting on her unique career, which began with a debut in Japan before gaining fame in Korea, she opened the first round with her self-composed song 'Waiting', inspired by her first love at 17. The impersonators' impressive skills led Jun Hyun-moo to suggest a replay, a first in the show's history, as the audience was left in confusion. Younha survived the round, tying for first place with only four votes against her.
The second round featured her debut album's title track, 'Password 486', where Younha faced an unexpected challenge. She humorously recalled her intense performances from the past, but during the competition, she struggled against the strong impersonators. Jun Hyun-moo heightened the tension by mentioning past eliminations of original singers like Jo Sung-mo and Taeyeon in the second round. Younha narrowly advanced to the third round, securing 22 votes and placing fourth. In the following 'Broke Up Today' stage, the panel was stirred by the high difficulty, but Younha safely advanced to the final round with 20 votes.
Heartfelt stories from the impersonators during the competition moved the audience to tears. Younha was touched by confessions that her music had been a significant part of fans' lives, saying, "Life isn't eternal, so I hope my songs play as the background music in someone's life." The final round featured her self-composed song 'Event Horizon', known for its resurgence in popularity. Younha passionately explained the song's metaphorical meaning of the boundary of separation, but the results were full of surprises.
The ultimate victory went to 'Can't Give Up Younha' Lee Ji-young, who received 41 out of 100 votes. Younha, with 38 votes, narrowly missed the win but sincerely applauded Lee Ji-young's ability to perfectly replicate her early pronunciation. Despite the close loss, Younha expressed deep satisfaction in reconnecting with fans who have journeyed with her throughout her musical career.
