WJSN's Dayoung Secretly Prepares for Solo Debut, Surprises Fans

WJSN's Dayoung has revealed that she secretly prepared for her solo debut without informing the top executives at her company, leaving fans astonished.

On October 2nd, Dayoung held a round interview with TenAsia at the Starship Entertainment headquarters in Gangnam, Seoul, to commemorate the release of her digital single 'What's a girl to do'.

Reflecting on her solo debut with 'Body', Dayoung shared, "I thought there might not be a next time," and added, "I approached it as if it was my first and last album. It was an album I prepared for three years."

She continued, "It took me three years to prove myself," and revealed, "I started preparing for my solo debut after renewing my contract in my seventh year and during a personal interview. When I expressed my desire to the company, they said, 'You can do it, but the market is very competitive, so it might not be easy.'" Dayoung further explained, "I agreed and worked diligently on the tasks given by the company for two years. Meanwhile, I took vocal training from the basics, just like the trainees, to find the voice of solo artist Dayoung, not WJSN's Dayoung."

Dayoung added, "After strengthening my basics, I decided to prepare in earnest and asked the company for three months. I told my department that I would go to the U.S. to work with a composer I wanted and create music, but I told the higher-ups that I was going to Jeju Island for a break."

Dayoung's album, in which she participated in writing and composing all the songs, includes two tracks: the title track 'What's a girl to do' and the B-side 'Priceless (kaching kaching)'. The title track 'What's a girl to do' captures the emotions between excitement and hesitation that anyone who has fallen in love can relate to.

Meanwhile, Dayoung's digital single 'What's a girl to do' will be released on various music sites at 6 PM on the 7th.
