Kang Yoo-seok, who plays Yang Eun-myung, the brother of IU's character Yang Geum-myung in Netflix's 'You Have Done Well,' has shared his candid thoughts.
Global media platform BoldPage has released an exclusive photo shoot and global interview 'Global Q's' with Kang Yoo-seok.
In this photo shoot, he captured both a soft and rugged look, drawing attention. He showcased a natural and warm vibe with comfortable shirts and styling, while also presenting a chic and provocative image with black leather and wet hair styling.
Particularly, the witty direction, such as a shot using the moment an ice cream melts or a scene where he appears to be thinking with his chin on a small house, added to the visual enjoyment. The use of AI for visual effects further enhanced the unique atmosphere that transcends reality and imagination.
In the interview following the photo shoot, Kang Yoo-seok candidly shared his journey as an actor. He revealed, "There was a time when I only auditioned for over a year and got rejected more than 100 times," adding, "I really wanted to do this job desperately back then." He continued, "Even now, when I feel like I'm becoming numb, I recall that period," and expressed gratitude for being able to make a living through acting.
There were moments when he wanted to give up. He confessed, "I cried a lot because it was so tough and often thought, 'Should I quit?'" but added, "I kept going because I have a personality that gets back up." His thoughts on acting were also impressive. Kang Yoo-seok explained, "I read the script multiple times and constantly ponder, 'Why does this character act this way?'" and noted, "Understanding the character makes acting easier."
Regarding his attitude on set, he said, "I try to get close to the actors I work with," adding, "That way, I can try more natural and diverse approaches." He also revealed his straightforward dating style, saying, "I'm the type to go straight for it," and "Once I feel my feelings are somewhat conveyed, I directly say 'I like you.'" As for his ideal type, he mentioned, "I find it attractive when someone is professional and dedicated to their work," and "I get excited by such people."
Throughout the interview, his human charm was evident. Kang Yoo-seok shared, "I really like jelly," and "Thanks to fans sending me a lot, I have a drawer full at home," he laughed. He added, "I eat one while reading scripts or watching TV," sharing a glimpse of his everyday life.
The most impressive response was about his values. He stated, "Except when filming, I just want to live as 'human Kang Yoo-seok,'" and "I prefer to live naturally rather than appearing like a celebrity." He also conveyed a heartfelt message, "Thanks to the love from fans, I can keep moving forward," and promised, "I will continue to show good sides of myself."
Meanwhile, Kang Yoo-seok is set to continue his active career with his confirmed role in the Korean remake of 'The Miracles of the Namiya General Store.'
