Korean Actress Son Tae-young Buys Used Car for 17-Year-Old Son in New Jersey

Korean actress Son Tae-young has purchased a used car for her 17-year-old son.

On October 4, the YouTube channel 'Mrs. New Jersey Son Tae-young' released a video titled 'Son Tae-young's Big Purchase for Son Luke and Kwon Sang-woo'.

In the video, Son Tae-young visits a used car dealership with her brother-in-law to choose a vehicle for her son, Luke. Explaining why her husband, Kwon Sang-woo, wasn't with her, she said, "Luke's dad is in Connecticut for a soccer match, and I came because of the driver's license and insurance issues."

Currently, Luke has passed the written test at school and has received a temporary driver's permit. Son Tae-young mentioned, "He needs to complete 50 hours of driving practice, and an adult must always accompany him." Her brother-in-law added, "It's good to start driving at 17. In the U.S., driving is essential."

Son Tae-young expressed her surprise at how quickly time has passed, saying, "I can't believe Luke is already old enough to drive," while carefully selecting the vehicle. She candidly shared that she chose a used car for his first vehicle because "it's likely to get scratched and bumped."

After visiting several dealerships, Son Tae-young chose a 2023 hybrid SUV model, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, which combines a gasoline engine with an electric motor. The used car is priced in the high 40 million won range.

Son Tae-young expressed satisfaction with the purchase, stating, "The specifications are good, and the leather seats are in excellent condition. I heard it will sell well later." She added, "We'll take the car today, and next time, we'll see Luke driving it."

She also mentioned the practical reason, "In New Jersey, it's hard to get around without a car," and added, "If he doesn't learn now, he might not do it later."

Meanwhile, Son Tae-young and Kwon Sang-woo, who married in 2008, have a son and a daughter and are currently living in the U.S. for their children's education.
