Actress Shin Ae-ra Shares Her Journey of Open Adoption and Parenting
Actress Shin Ae-ra recently opened up about her principles and experiences in raising children through open adoption.

On the October 3rd episode of Channel A's 'My Golden Kids', 'I Am Solo' participants Hyun-sook from the 22nd season and Kwang-soo from the 16th season appeared. The couple, who are currently dating with marriage in mind, shared their concerns about when and how to inform their child about the biological father.

During the episode, Shin Ae-ra offered heartfelt advice based on her own experiences. She mentioned, "I talked about it since they were babies," advising Hyun-sook, "You need to change your mindset first. This is not a sad or pitiful story."

Shin Ae-ra continued, "There is a mom who gave birth to you, but she was in a situation where she couldn't raise you, so she brought you to me. How wonderful is that?" She explained that she referred to the biological mother as the 'mom who gave birth to you' when talking to her children.

She also shared her children's reactions. Shin Ae-ra said, "The child accepted it without any hesitation. They understood, 'The mom who gave birth to me was in a situation where she couldn't raise me,' and realized, 'She protected me and brought me to meet my mom.'"

Shin Ae-ra emphasized, "You should tell them there is a dad who gave birth to you, and you, as a mom, should no longer be afraid."

On the show, Dr. Oh Eun-young analyzed the participant's daughter, stating, "The concept of a dad is not a specific person but an idea from a fairy tale." In response, Hyun-sook mentioned the emotional scars from her past marriage, shedding tears.

Meanwhile, Shin Ae-ra, who married Cha In-pyo in 1995, has one son and two daughters who were adopted openly. Previously, Cha In-pyo appeared on the 'With Sean' channel and shared about their adopted daughters, saying, "I never thought of them as adopted. I only thought of them as our daughters," which touched many hearts.
