KCM Opens Up About the Emergency Birth of His Third Son on 'The Return of Superman'
Singer KCM shared his emotional experience during the emergency birth of his third son on the recent episode of KBS 2TV's 'The Return of Superman,' which aired on the 1st.
The episode featured KCM and his wife, along with singer Kim Jong-min and broadcaster Lala, as they revealed their daily life. KCM expressed his feelings about becoming a father, saying, "Having a son gives me a sense of stability. I feel so happy."
The show unveiled the dramatic story behind the birth of their youngest son, Haon. Six weeks before the due date, KCM's wife experienced a 30% premature placental abruption. KCM recounted, "My wife was covered in blood in the bathroom. I immediately called 911." Despite the dangerous situation, Haon was successfully delivered through emergency surgery.
Both the mother and baby were in critical condition at the time. Haon had to stay in the neonatal intensive care unit incubator for two weeks due to immature lungs. KCM shared his fears, "I was very scared. Although my wife's surgery went well, no one assured me that the baby was okay. It was terrifying." His wife also tearfully expressed, "I was worried about what would happen to the kids if something happened to me."
Haon later underwent a health check-up to monitor his development. For premature babies, catching up to their peers in weight is crucial. Haon was examined for head circumference, retinopathy of prematurity, and the possibility of intraventricular hemorrhage.
The doctor emphasized, "The biggest issue for premature babies is low weight compared to their peers. 'Catch-up growth' is important." Currently, Haon has reached 30% of the standard weight for full-term babies and is growing steadily. KCM resolved, "Now that we are a family of five, I have to work even harder."
