Yoon Jong-hoon is left in shock after hearing the terminal diagnosis of Lee Ho-jae's character.
The first episode of KBS 1TV's daily drama 'Our Happy Days' (directed by Lee Jae-sang, written by Nam Sun-hye, produced by Monster Union, Say On Media, and Contents G) aired last night (30th), marking the beginning of a storm in the previously peaceful lives of Go Gyeol (played by Yoon Jong-hoon) and Jo Eun-ae (played by Uhm Hyun-kyung). The episode recorded a viewership rating of 10.6% nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea.
The episode opened with a striking scene of Jo Eun-ae waking up from a nightmare where her parents turned into robots. On the morning of the demo day for her AI service 'Joy,' she tried to remain calm despite the ominous dream, but faced unexpected mishaps, such as being unable to wear her prepared suit, which left her feeling anxious.
Go Gyeol captured attention as he took the stage at the 'Young Architect of the Year' award ceremony held in New York. While delivering his acceptance speech, he reminisced about his grandfather Go Kang-soo (played by Lee Ho-jae), who warmly took him in when he was left alone at an orphanage, moving the audience with his gratitude.
Jo Eun-ae, after overcoming various obstacles, arrived at the demo day venue and demonstrated her AI 'Joy' for seniors via a video call with Park Soon-bun (played by Sung Byung-sook), capturing the attention of investors. When investor Go Min-ho (played by Jung Yoon) questioned the sustainability of the free 'Joy' service, Jo Eun-ae confidently replied, "Once the user base grows, advertising revenue alone will be sufficient for profit," causing her co-CEO Han Ji-hoon (played by Seo Dong-kyu) to become uneasy.
Meanwhile, cracks appeared in the Go family. Go Dae-chi (played by Yoon Da-hoon) subtly suggested to Go Kang-soo, the chairman of Kang-soo Group, that his eldest son Go Min-ho be promoted, but was rebuffed with "It's not the time yet." Go Min-ho, too, delayed congratulating Go Gyeol as instructed by their grandfather, hinting at lingering tensions between the brothers.
Towards the end of the episode, Go Gyeol, engrossed in his blueprint work, was left in shock upon hearing the devastating news from Go Kang-soo: "Grandfather is dying soon." The scene of a stunned Go Gyeol hinted at an unpredictable storyline, heightening viewers' anticipation for the next episode.
Meanwhile, the second episode of KBS 1TV's 'Our Happy Days' airs tonight (31st) at 8:30 PM.
