Singer Jang Han-eum makes a comeback to the music scene with his 'Dream' series, filled with messages of hope and comfort.
On the 30th, Jang Han-eum held a media showcase at Seongam Art Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, to celebrate the release of his second EP, 'Daydream'.
Jang expressed his excitement, saying, "I'm thrilled and happy. I've tried to incorporate various charms and my growth. I've also included positive energy and messages I wanted to convey. I'll do my best to show you everything." He added, "Unlike the previous album, I've prepared the performance diligently. The interpretation can change how you listen to it. I hope you listen while thinking about your emotions and stories," raising expectations.
Jang Han-eum's first physical album, 'Daydream', is an EP consisting of nine tracks that capture the emotions encountered between dreams and reality. It encapsulates Jang's deepened sensibility and musical growth. He participated in the planning, writing, and composing of all the tracks, ensuring both authenticity and completeness.
Jang stated, "This album is about why we dream again despite everything. There are many hardships and obstacles in the world. How do we overcome them? I hope my music can provide a hopeful message to those people. I want you to listen by applying your own story, and I hope my album becomes an inspiration and comfort to you."
He continued, "There are many who mock my dreams, saying I won't make it or that I have big dreams. It's upsetting that many speak negatively about dreams, which anyone can have. I wanted to say, don't mind those people and dream the dreams you want."
The double title tracks 'Wanna' and 'Only 1' express the will and emotions towards dreams in different ways, showcasing Jang Han-eum's musical spectrum. Each song conveys a different atmosphere and message, completing the album's narrative.
The title tracks were born through many trials. Jang shared, "There were many tough moments. I couldn't go home for about a week. I drove home at the time others were going to work. I worked overnight, and the sun came up. Then I thought it wasn't right and scrapped the song. 'Wanna' came out in two hours. I was happy thinking it finally came out."
Jang Han-eum participated in Mnet's 'Boys Planet' last year, finishing in 18th place and being eliminated in the third survival announcement. Although he was mentioned as a member of a derivative group with Choi Lip-woo and Kang Woo-jin, he returned as a solo artist. There was much curiosity about this move, but Jang's team limited related questions in advance, making it difficult to hear his story.
On the day of Jang's comeback, many prominent solo artists are returning to the music scene. DAY6's Wonpil and Red Velvet's Irene are presenting their music to the public. Prior to this, Kang Min, who appeared with Jang on 'Boys Planet', debuted solo on the 26th.
What is Jang Han-eum's strength as a solo artist? Jang confidently stated, "Unlike other groups or artists, I can convey my personal message. It's not a typical love story, but what I want to convey. The reason I make music is largely to give hope and comfort to others."
With this album, Jang continues the 'Dream' universe. He explained, "I released 'Lucid Dream' two years ago. From the planning stage, I thought of it as a 'Dream' trilogy and shared my opinion with the company. There's a hint of the next dream in this album. Finding these is also fun."
Jang Han-eum's second EP album 'Daydream' will be officially released at 6 PM today.
