DAY6's Wonpil has returned as a solo artist after four years, making his boldest appearance since his debut.
Recently, Wonpil held an interview at a cafe in Gangnam, Seoul, to commemorate the release of his first solo mini-album 'Unpiltered'.
Wonpil expressed his desire to experiment with various styles through this album. He stated, "I wanted people to say they never imagined I would bring this kind of music as both a member of DAY6 and as Wonpil." He added, "I aimed to show a side of myself that hasn't been seen in concept photos or music videos before. Especially in the concept photos, I tried to push the boundaries with maximum exposure. It's just my back, though," he laughed.
Wonpil shared, "The team prepared the outfits well, and I thought, 'This is nothing, I just need to show it well.' I felt that if the fans liked it, I should do it. It was a bit embarrassing. The staff gave positive reactions with every pose. When I showed the photos to the members, they asked, 'How did you take them so well?'"
The mini-album 'Unpiltered' is Wonpil's new release, coming about four years after his first solo album 'Pilmography' in February 2022. The new album focuses on capturing his true self naturally. The title track 'Love Ward' explores the complex emotions within Wonpil under the guise of 'love', with a dramatic auditory progression that enhances immersion. Known for his delicate expression, Wonpil has contributed to the credits of all tracks on the new album, including the title track 'Love Ward'.
Wonpil's first mini-album 'Unpiltered' and the title track 'Love Ward' will be released on the 30th at 6 PM. Alongside his solo comeback, he will hold a solo concert 'WONPIL SOLO CONCERT 'Unpiltered'' from May 1st to 3rd, meeting with fans.
