Former Lula member Lee Hye-young has sparked controversy after applying cosmetics to her pet dog's face, leading to accusations of animal abuse. As the backlash grew, she deleted all critical comments from her social media post.
On the 25th, Lee Hye-young posted a video on her social media without any caption. The video, which showed her pet dog with makeup applied around its eyes and mouth, shocked viewers.
One commenter pointed out, "In my country, posting such a video would be criticized as animal abuse." Online, reactions criticizing Lee Hye-young's actions included comments like, "Abuse isn't just about hitting or starving an animal."
Veterinary experts warn that applying human cosmetics to a dog's face, especially around the eyes, can lead to conjunctivitis or corneal ulcers due to the sensitivity of dogs to foreign substances and chemicals. Lee Hye-young's action of applying mascara to her dog's left eye has drawn significant criticism.
As of 4 PM on the 26th, all comments accusing her of animal abuse have been removed from the post. On the same day, without addressing the controversy, Lee Hye-young shared an update of her visiting a handbag brand showroom with broadcaster Chae Jung-an.
