Kang Seung-gi, a renowned authority on lab-grown diamonds, unveils the fascinating world and intriguing secrets behind these laboratory-created gems.
On the upcoming episode of EBS's 'Seo Jang-hoon's Neighboring Millionaire,' airing on the 25th, diamond expert Kang Seung-gi will make an appearance. Kang is the first in Korea and the eighth in the world to successfully produce lab-grown diamonds, having developed his own technology and secured a patent. His journey from creating diamonds to owning a building worth 30 billion won showcases his determination, exceptional business acumen, and relentless spirit, which will be vividly portrayed in the broadcast.
In this episode, Seo Jang-hoon and Jang Ye-won visit Kang's diamond building located in the heart of Jongno to explore everything about lab-grown diamonds, often referred to as 'jewels of the laboratory.' Kang explains, "People usually think diamonds are mined, but we grow them in a room." When Seo Jang-hoon questions, "Isn't that a fake diamond then?" Kang counters, "Just because it's grown in a lab doesn't make it fake. It has the exact same composition as a natural diamond." He further adds, "Even a gemologist can't distinguish between a natural diamond and a lab-grown one under a microscope all day."
Kang Seung-gi will also reveal how to distinguish between natural and lab-grown diamonds, as well as the often-confused cubic zirconia and diamonds. Seo Jang-hoon takes on the challenge, saying, "I'll try to guess myself." As Seo makes his choice after much deliberation, Kang watches with a mysterious smile.
The episode will also disclose the secrets of lab-grown diamond production, including the revelation of the 'diamond seed.' Seo Jang-hoon marvels, "To think you can even make a diamond seed. It's almost like printing money. It's like modern-day alchemy," expressing his admiration.
EBS's 'Seo Jang-hoon's Neighboring Millionaire' will air on the 25th at 9:55 PM.
