The 12th episode of SBS Plus's 'Lee Ho-sun's Cider', aired on the 21st, featured various stories under the theme of 'Life-Draining Parasites'. The episode covered real-life issues such as bosses taking credit for employees' work, emotional exploitation within families, a mother-in-law treating her son-in-law as a cash cow, a jobless husband using his wife's money for affairs, and a story of a couple losing their home and car to a brother-in-law.
What Was the Shocking Story That Made Kim Ji-min Cry?
The most shocking story of the day was titled 'I Lost My Home and Car to My Brother-in-Law'. The storyteller revealed that after getting married, they started living in a house that the husband had worked hard to secure. However, after having a child, the mother-in-law suggested they move into her house so she could help with childcare, and insisted they give their current home to the husband's younger brother. The husband transferred the house title to his brother without consulting the storyteller and even planned to give their car and savings to him, causing deep emotional pain.
The storyteller, who appeared in the studio, shared that after a recent surgery, the brother-in-law and his wife visited empty-handed and left hurtful comments. The storyteller expressed that it was more painful to see her husband continuously sacrifice for his family than to be disrespected herself. The husband, who also appeared on the show, confessed that he had been sick as a child, which made his parents feel guilty towards his brother, and he had carried that psychological burden throughout his life.
Expert Lee Ho-sun's Diagnosis and Solution
Lee Ho-sun diagnosed, "The husband feels guilty towards everyone—his parents, brother, and wife—so he can't cut ties with anyone." He advised, "Now, the couple needs to support each other instead of the in-laws. The husband should publicly support his wife, and vice versa." He guided them through a role-playing exercise, where the husband confidently said, "Don't say that, trust and leave it to someone who can do it well." This moved the storyteller to tears, and Kim Ji-min also cried for the first time in 12 episodes.
Lee Ho-sun comforted them, saying, "If only this courage had come sooner. But there's a long life ahead." He encouraged the storyteller to trust her husband and asked the husband to keep trying and practicing, leaving the studio in a poignant atmosphere.
After the counseling session, the storyteller expressed, "I felt like something was weighing on my chest, but that part has been resolved. It was a tough time, but I'm lucky to have been here." Lee Ho-sun warmly encouraged, "Good opportunities come from good courage," leaving a lasting impression.
'Lee Ho-sun's Cider' airs every Saturday at 10 AM.
