Kim Jin-pyo's Return to 'Show Me The Money 12': A Journey of Dedication and Passion
Kim Jin-pyo, known as the first solo artist to release a rap album in Korea, recently shared some exciting news. He mentioned that Panic, his group, is planning a concert in 2026. I jokingly suggested that since he's performing, he should also make an appearance on 'Show Me The Money'. He laughed and said, 'If I do, I'll get criticized.' Despite his hesitation, I plan to keep encouraging him to give it a try.

Recently, a roundtable interview was held at the CJ ENM Center in Sangam, Mapo-gu, Seoul, with Choi Hyo-jin, the chief producer of Mnet's 'Show Me The Money 12' (hereafter referred to as 'Show Me'). 'Show Me' is a survival program where Korea's top rappers and newcomers form teams to compete, first airing in June 2012. The latest season, 'Show Me 12', marks the show's return after a four-year hiatus since the end of season 11 in December 2022. Kim Jin-pyo has been the MC since season 3 in 2014, taking over from Eun Ji-won, and has continued through season 12, with no other known broadcasting activities.

Choi CP shared, "I've known Kim Jin-pyo for a long time. When I proposed the MC role for this season, I had mixed feelings. Since the news of 'Show Me' returning was already out, I casually suggested we meet for a meal. Kim Jin-pyo seemed curious about the purpose of the meeting. Given the show's long absence, he seemed torn between whether it was time to say goodbye or to reunite. He sat down with a subtle expression, but was very pleased when I asked him to join us again."

He continued, "Every season, Kim Jin-pyo has had a busy schedule with personal commitments. Balancing multiple activities often clashed with 'Show Me' filming schedules. There were times he had to rush back from business trips to join the set, and he struggled with late-night shoots followed by early morning work commitments. During the seasons, he would sometimes express his frustrations."

Choi CP added, "If we hadn't offered him the MC role this season and instead suggested he step down, I think he would have been genuinely disappointed. He was very happy with the offer, and seeing his reaction was quite touching. It made me realize the deep relationships formed over the years through this long-running program."
