Turning Ghosts into 'Business'?
SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Shin-i-rang Law Office' has emerged as a new powerhouse in the weekend drama scene. In the last episode, Shin-i-rang (played by Yoo Yeon-seok) was seen screaming at the sight of another ghost, confirming his inescapable fate as a possessed lawyer. From episode 3, Shin-i-rang is expected to take a more active role in cases, evolving into a 'ghost specialist lawyer'. Let's delve into the intriguing points of this unique adventure.
Shin-i-rang aspired to be an ordinary lawyer, putting in desperate efforts. However, his efforts were not about studying law books harder, which added a humorous touch. He scattered beans, hung garlic, and even placed a cross in his office, reassuring himself, "Even ghost grandpas can't come here now." Yet, his hopes were dashed as a new 'guest' had already settled in the office. A schoolgirl ghost, floating in the air, looked curiously at a talisman and asked, "Can you see me, mister?" At that moment, Shin-i-rang sat down, exclaiming, "Why is this happening to me!", reaffirming his unavoidable 'ghost client nature'. This raised curiosity about his bittersweet reality.
In a pre-released video, Shin-i-rang finally makes a decision. If he can't avoid ghosts, he might as well turn it into 'business'. He presents a legal contract with clauses unfavorable to ghosts, saying, "No one else can help you but me." However, he quickly softens at the ghost's pitiful question, "Am I really dead?" Eventually, Shin-i-rang crosses out the clause "If a ghost endangers the lawyer, the contract is immediately terminated," saying, "I'll take some risks." His warm heart, which couldn't ignore a street vendor grandma and earned him the label "soft-hearted" from his mother Park Kyung-hwa (played by Kim Mi-kyung), ultimately made him a ghost specialist lawyer.
The main event of episode 3 revolves around the tragic death of an idol trainee hidden behind glamorous lights. The ghost who visited Shin-i-rang was seen dancing in a practice room and falling in terror in the previous episode. In the stills released ahead of the broadcast, Shin-i-rang is seen trying to recover the ghost's memories. The problem is that the truth surrounding the incident is far from simple. The agency claims it was suicide, but there seems to be a clear gap between the ghost's last memories and the real-world testimonies.
What Will Happen with Han Na-hyun's Collaboration?
Han Na-hyun (played by Esom), who unexpectedly collaborates with Shin-i-rang again following the previous case, raises tension by suggesting the possibility of murder through her independent investigation. The victim's phone disappeared from the scene. The collaboration or confrontation between lawyer Shin-i-rang, who hears the ghost's voice, and Han Na-hyun, who persistently pursues evidence, is highly anticipated in this case.
The production team stated, "While episodes 1 and 2 introduced the unique abilities of Shin-i-rang and his family's stories, from episode 3, ghosts with unjust stories will start visiting the office, and Shin-i-rang's unique adventure of accepting ghost clients begins. The increasingly bizarre cases and the human stories within them will provide viewers with thrilling catharsis."
