The 11-Hour Ordeal That Led a 28-Year-Old to Tragedy

This week's 'The Story of That Day' episode delves into a real-life voice phishing case from 2020, where a victim tragically took his own life. The 28-year-old received a call from someone impersonating a prosecutor, claiming his bank account was involved in a crime. Over 11 hours, the scam led to a loss of 4.2 million won, and the victim, unaware he was being scammed, believed he had become a criminal, leading to his tragic decision.

AI Voice Technology Misused in Voice Phishing?

Returning for the fifth time, 'Kkomuli' Shin So-yul expresses her anger at the scammers' heinous methods, saying, "I'm so angry my body is trembling," while At Heart Arin calls it "murder." Shin So-yul breaks down after reading the victim's suicide note.

The studio is shocked by real-time AI voice technology. After recording the 'Kkomuli' voices and inputting a script, AI voices identical to the real ones are produced. Shin So-yul is stunned, saying, "It sounds just like my voice. It's terrifying." The identity of the voice phishing scammers and their advanced methods are revealed on 'The Story of That Day.'
