On the recent episode of KBS1's 'Living Together with Hwang Shin-hye,' actress Yoo Hye-jung shared her experiences of personal attacks faced in front of her daughter.
Aired on the 18th, the show featured Yoo Hye-jung discussing her life as a 'single mom' post-divorce and the challenges she faced while running a clothing store.
Yoo Hye-jung revealed the reasons behind starting her clothing business, stating, "I needed a stable income to raise my daughter alone," and added, "I utilized my fashion major to run a clothing store."
However, dealing with people proved to be more challenging than expected. She confessed, "The hardest part of the business was human relationships," and added, "There were many instances where things didn't go as I hoped."
Particularly, some customers' rude behavior left a lasting impact. She shared, "There were people who would come to the store, not even look at the clothes, and leave after making unpleasant remarks," and added, "It was more distressing when my daughter was present."
She continued, "For example, some would casually say things like 'You know you look like your dad?' and even criticize my appearance."
Her daughter, witnessing these incidents, would sometimes step in, saying, "Please don't say that. My mom is a woman too." Yoo Hye-jung added, "Seeing my child get hurt was the hardest part."
Eventually, the situation became overwhelming. She recalled, "In the early days, I was so defiant that I even wrote 'Please do not enter if you intend to attack' on a large sheet and posted it on the wall."
Yoo Hye-jung also shared that she recently closed the clothing store she had run for 15 years. She explained, "The current situation has been very tough," and added, "Instead of pushing forward recklessly, I want to pause and consider a new direction."
Yoo Hye-jung married baseball player Seo Yong-bin in 1999 and had a daughter, Seo Kyu-won, born in 2000, but they divorced in 2007.
