Kim Nam-gil and Lee Yoo-mi to Unleash 'Nightmare' on Criminals in New SBS Drama
Kim Nam-gil and Lee Yoo-mi are set to trap villains in a web of 'Nightmare'. Previously, Lee Yoo-mi was reported to star in the romance comedy 'To You', alongside Hwang In-yeop, but the casting fell through, and the role went to Hyeri.

The new SBS drama 'Nightmare', set to premiere in 2027, follows a vigilante group that imprisons criminals who evade legal punishment, not in jails, but in their nightmares. The series explores the fantastical execution of justice as characters traverse the boundary between dreams and reality.

Kim Nam-gil takes on the role of Detective Kim Tae-i. After completing a long undercover mission, he returns to the Southern Police Department, transformed in personality, speech, and lifestyle, yet unwavering in his determination to catch criminals. With his animalistic instincts and wild charm, he teams up with the vigilantes who design nightmares to capture villains. Known for his versatile performances in dark and thrilling series like 'Through the Darkness' and 'The Fiery Priest', Kim Nam-gil's portrayal of Kim Tae-i is highly anticipated.

Lee Yoo-mi plays Jang Kyu-eun, a shy and reserved victim support officer at the Southern Police Department. In dreams, she transforms into a completely different person, appearing with a cruel and decadent demeanor to inflict excruciating pain on criminals who escape justice. As the mysterious nightmare designer, Jang Kyu-eun, Lee Yoo-mi is set to showcase a captivating duality, oscillating between a charming smile and a lethal gaze.

'Nightmare' will depict the journey of Detective Kim Tae-i and the enigmatic nightmare designer Jang Kyu-eun as they join forces to ensure that criminals who mock the law face their due punishment. By imprisoning these law-defying villains in a 'nightmare' they can never escape, the story of Kim Tae-i and Jang Kyu-eun promises to intrigue viewers.

The chemistry between Kim Nam-gil and Lee Yoo-mi, who will bring this tale of justice to life, is also a focal point. Kim Nam-gil, a trusted actor known for his unique style across genres, and Lee Yoo-mi, the first Korean actress to win an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress, are expected to deliver a powerful synergy as colleagues in 'Nightmare'.

The production team of 'Nightmare' stated, "Through the unique concept of punishing untouchable criminals with 'nightmares', we aim to sound an alarm for those who evade the consequences of their actions. We look forward to the immersive portrayal of this special collaboration between a detective and a nightmare designer by actors Kim Nam-gil and Lee Yoo-mi."

'Nightmare' is set to premiere in 2027.
