The couple decided to continue their relationship, but they suffered another blow with a miscarriage early in the pregnancy. Young-ja expressed her feelings at the time, "I was overwhelmed by the thought of raising a child alone without being sure of Young-chul's support."

Young-chul also shared his struggles, stating, "It was difficult knowing my wife didn't trust me." He admitted, "Being in a remarriage, I tried to understand, but emotionally, it was challenging." Young-ja revealed her trauma from her ex-husband's debts and lies, to which Young-chul responded, "I found myself questioning why I had to deal with issues from her past marriage."

Professor Lee Ho-sun identified the root of their conflict as a 'trust issue stemming from insecurity' and advised that emotional expression and communication are essential for healing their relationship.
