The group TWS is further cementing its presence as a 'Challenge Hit Maker'.
According to TikTok, the global short-form video platform, TWS's (Shin Yu, Do Hoon, Young Jae, Han Jin, Ji Hoon, Kyung Min) mini 4th album title track 'OVERDRIVE' has been featured in over 2.3 million short-form videos (including original sounds) as of the 16th. This figure ranks among the top for K-pop boy group songs.
The cumulative views of TikTok posts using the 'OVERDRIVE' sound exceed 4.4 billion as of March 15. Thanks to this immense popularity, the song remains at the top of TikTok's Korean 'Top 50' and 'Viral 50' sound charts.
The 'Aengtal Challenge' using the 'OVERDRIVE' sound is spreading globally. Top stars from Greater China, including Zhao Lusi, Jolin Tsai, Greg Hsu, Chen Zheyuan, and Liu Yuxin, as well as top Japanese artist Ryosuke Yamada, popular musician Lilas (Ikura from Yoasobi), and famous child star Nonoka-chan have joined TWS's 'Aengtal Boom'.
The craze has also reached the sports world, with Formula One (F1) driver Zhou Guanyu participating in the challenge, capturing the attention of fans worldwide.
The 'Aengtal Boom' ignited on short-form platforms has led to long-term success on music charts. 'OVERDRIVE' remains on Melon's daily, weekly, and monthly charts even five months after its release. Following their debut track 'First Meeting Didn't Go as Planned', TWS continues to establish themselves as chart mainstays.
Meanwhile, TWS will release a new episode of their self-produced variety show 'TWS:CLUB' on their official YouTube channel at 9 PM today (17th). Celebrating their 2nd anniversary, this episode will showcase the members' lively late-night snack party at their dorm, raising fans' anticipation.
