Singer Son Seung-yeon, who rose to fame after winning Mnet's 'Voice Korea' in 2012, has formed a new rivalry with Kim Ki-tae on the show 'The Best.' Son, who previously made headlines for losing 15kg, is once again in the spotlight.
On the October 15th episode of MBC's 'The Best,' Son Seung-yeon competed in her second showdown. After ranking third in the previous lineup, she aimed for her second trophy, facing off against Kim Ki-tae, with whom she had a close contest for the top spot in their first showdown.
Addressing her new rival Kim Ki-tae, Son stated, "The first-place trophy isn't for just anyone. I chose my song very carefully, and if my calculations are correct, I think I'll win smoothly." She chose Younha's 'Oort Cloud' as her strategic song.
Lee Ye-jun commented on Son's performance, saying, "She truly is a monster vocalist," while her opponent Kim Ki-tae admitted, "Watching Son Seung-yeon's performance is so good that it frustrates me. I don't know how to win against her," heightening the tension.
Despite her flawless performance, Son's decision to end with a short, impactful finale led to an unprecedented situation with many abstaining from voting. Son expressed her disappointment, saying, "I chose an impactful ending for the completeness of my stage, but I'm taken aback."
