Director Jang Hang-jun recently appeared on JTBC's 'Newsroom' where he expressed his admiration for actors Yoo Hae-jin and Park Ji-hoon.
On the October 14th broadcast, Jang discussed his feelings about the overwhelming success of his film 'The Man Who Lives with the King' and shared insights into his upcoming projects.
Jang, who recently hosted a coffee truck event for fans, remarked, "I was surprised by the turnout. People lined up from the morning, coming from places like Changwon and Daegu, and even from all over the country." He added, "I'm amazed by the interest, though I don't think it will last forever. But I'm happy," he joked.
Known for his quirky nicknames like 'Born Lucky' and 'Maltese Without Tear Stains,' Jang shared his favorite new nickname from the film's fans: 'Jang Always Watch Your Words.'
Discussing the success of 'The Man Who Lives with the King,' Jang highlighted the theme of loyalty depicted in the film. He said, "There are emotions tied to the unnamed individuals who stayed by King Danjong's side until the end, like Eom Heung-do. In a modern society filled with calculations, perhaps people long for the selfless loyalty of the past."
Jang also expressed his admiration for the actors. He praised Park Ji-hoon as "the future of Korean cinema," noting his emotional depth and restraint uncommon in actors in their 20s. Regarding Yoo Hae-jin, Jang commented, "Whether he's in the Joseon era or modern times, a prosecutor or a gangster, he becomes a completely different character. He's the finest actor alive today."
Meanwhile, 'The Man Who Lives with the King' continues to enjoy immense popularity, surpassing 12 million viewers.
