Kian84's Heartfelt Tribute to Horror Manga Legend Junji Ito on 'I Live Alone'

On the latest episode of MBC's variety show 'I Live Alone,' Kian84 embarked on a journey to Japan to meet his long-time idol, the renowned horror manga artist Junji Ito.

During the episode aired on the 13th, Kian84 expressed his deep admiration for Junji Ito, stating, "I'm such a fan that I follow his work, but he rarely makes public appearances. I never thought I'd have the chance to meet him, as he seemed to belong to a completely different world."

Kian84 further explained, "His work is not just horror manga; it has a very unique worldview. Typically, stories involve characters growing by overcoming challenges, but his works are told from a completely different perspective."

Upon arriving in Tokyo, Kian84 unpacked his luggage at his accommodation and revealed a suit he had prepared for the occasion. He mentioned, "I rarely wear suits, maybe once a year for an awards ceremony. I don't even wear them to weddings. But since I'm meeting the artist I've always wanted to meet, I wanted to dress neatly."

To prepare for meeting Junji Ito, Kian84 shared, "I studied Japanese for three months. I put in as much effort as I do with running," surprising everyone.

In his accommodation, without a desk, Kian84 drew a portrait of Junji Ito on the floor. The completed artwork left the Rainbow Club members in the studio in awe. SHINee's Minho exclaimed, "I got goosebumps," while Jeon Hyun-moo commented, "It's not just about the skill; the sincerity makes it feel different."

Kian84 also explained the meaning behind the artwork, saying, "To me, Junji Ito is like the universe. That's why I used cosmic colors for the background and added a vortex-like effect to symbolize drawing people in."

Kian84's heartfelt preparation and sincere gift for his idol resonated with viewers, capturing their attention.
