Actor Lee Dong-hwi shared his thoughts on playing his own role.
On the 13th, a press screening for the film 'Method Acting' was held at Megabox COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. The event was attended by actors Lee Dong-hwi, Yoon Kyung-ho, Kang Chan-hee, and director Lee Ki-hyuk.
The film 'Method Acting' (directed by Lee Ki-hyuk) tells the story of 'funny actor' Lee Dong-hwi, who rose to fame through comedy but wants to be recognized for his sincere acting. The film explores what happens when he becomes overly immersed in his role. It is an expanded feature project based on a short film of the same name, with director Lee Ki-hyuk and Lee Dong-hwi collaborating once again to create this immersive meta-comedy.
In the film, Lee Dong-hwi plays a character named 'Lee Dong-hwi,' offering a unique blend of reality and fiction with a witty narrative that twists reality for a fresh experience.
On this day, Lee Dong-hwi stated, "From the planning and development stage of the script, I hoped it wouldn't just be a story about the struggles and concerns of an actor." He added, "I participated in the script work with the hope that many people would see this film and relate it to their own stories of choosing between 'what they want to do' and 'what they have to do.'"
He continued, "It's true that I felt a bit confused about doing comedy acting, but I felt more gratitude than depression," expressing his appreciation for the opportunities given to him. He further added, "While the character Lee Dong-hwi has his own struggles, as a person, I felt that my concerns were more of a grateful kind."
The film 'Method Acting' is set to be released on the 18th.
