Singer Younha, who is married to KAIST graduate and popular science YouTuber 'Science Cookie' (Lee Hyo-jong), has shared why she became interested in science.
On the 13th, the YouTube channel 'Younha Radio' featured a video titled 'Thinking of Younha 486 Times a Day'.
In the video, host Yoo In-na welcomed Younha and revealed their unique connection as former radio DJs. Yoo In-na said, "Younha was the DJ for 'Starry Night', and I hosted 'Turn Up the Volume' around the same time. We were active during the same period, and I always wanted to meet her."
Younha reminisced about her 2014 concert, where Yoo In-na attended with IU. Younha said, "You and IU came to my dressing room back then. Thinking about that day makes me cringe a bit. I wanted to appear like a cool older sister." Yoo In-na responded, "I had no idea. I thought Younha was very articulate," which brought laughter.
Younha explained her interest in astronomy-themed songs, saying, "During the pandemic, I became fascinated with space and astronomy. I kept searching for the meaning of existence and naturally gravitated towards the universe."
She also discussed her hit song 'Event Horizon', stating, "While exploring how the world began and why light exists, I naturally learned about the concept of the 'event horizon'."
When Younha performed a short live version of 'Event Horizon', Yoo In-na exclaimed, "That was the best minute of my life. I feel like I've succeeded in life."
Younha confessed to being a huge fan of H.O.T. during her childhood, saying, "H.O.T. was so cool. I admired how they talked about marginalized kids in songs like 'Candy' and 'Outside Castle'." She also mentioned her current favorite group, aespa, praising their 'Kwangya universe' concept.
When Yoo In-na suggested that Younha would have made a great idol, Younha candidly replied, "I wanted to be an idol back then, performing with singing and dancing. But looking back, I realize it wouldn't have suited me. I wouldn't have listened well."
Younha, who is currently experiencing idol-like fan interactions at fan sign events, said, "Fans often ask me to do cute gestures like puffing my cheeks. I do whatever they ask because if it makes the people who love my music happy, there's no reason not to." Yoo In-na added, "Fans must be thrilled. They must be happy that their favorite person is Younha."
Meanwhile, Younha married 'Science Cookie' (Lee Hyo-jong), a renowned science YouTuber and KAIST graduate, in March 2025. The couple reportedly bonded over their shared interest in science and the universe.
