Actress Lee Soo-kyung Opens Up About Failed Investments in Chef Kang Leo's Izakaya and More
Actress Lee Soo-kyung recently revealed her failed investment in Chef Kang Leo's izakaya business, drawing attention from fans and media alike.
On October 12, the YouTube channel 'Lee Soo-kyung Career' released a video titled 'Surprisingly a Failed Entrepreneur? Revealing Retirement Crisis Stories in a Virtual Housewarming.' In the video, Lee candidly shared the challenges she faced as an actress with an unstable income.
She stated, "Being an actress is like being a freelancer. You never know when work will dry up, and once a drama ends, I might not have work lined up for the next year or even the latter half of this year." She added, "I always wish for a steady income."
The revelation of her investment in Chef Kang Leo's izakaya was particularly noteworthy. Lee explained, "I was looking for something I could do and ended up trying an izakaya and a cafe." She continued, "But I can't cook, which was the problem. I thought I could just leave it to the experts," she recalled. "I couldn't always be at the store, so there was a huge risk. I was so clueless that I had no ability to handle issues when they arose."
She confessed, "I invested my own money to open it in Cheongdam-dong. I was the investor," adding, "The amount I invested was enough to make me faint. If I reveal it, the broadcast might suddenly cut off," she said, sharing her painful past. Lee also shared her failed brunch cafe venture. "It was about 80 pyeong near the Leeum Museum in Itaewon. The rent was high," she said. "At the time, there were no gallery-concept cafes. It was too unfamiliar, so it failed."
Lee Soo-kyung expressed, "I absolutely can't do it now. The consecutive business failures hurt me a lot," she said. "I developed skin issues from the stress, and even when work came in, I couldn't take it," she added, evoking sympathy. She continued, "At the time, I thought a lot about whether I should look for another job."
Meanwhile, Lee Soo-kyung is currently starring in the KBS drama 'Sim Woo-myeon Yeon-ri-ri,' playing the wife of actor Park Sung-woong.
