According to a report on the 6th, the sisters' mother, Lee Hye-won, passed away the previous day due to a chronic illness. She was 86 years old.
Kim Sung-ryung and Kim Sung-kyung are reportedly receiving condolences from visitors in their time of grief.
The funeral is being held at Room 31 of the Seoul St. Mary's Hospital Funeral Hall. The service will take place on the 7th at 10:20 AM.
Kim Sung-ryung entered the entertainment industry in 1988 after winning the Miss Korea pageant and began her career with the show 'Entertainment Relay.' She has since appeared in various dramas such as 'Kill Heel,' 'The Beauty Inside,' 'The Legend of the Blue Sea,' 'The Heirs,' and 'You're Beautiful,' maintaining an active presence in the industry.
Her younger sister, Kim Sung-kyung, was selected as an announcer for SBS in 1993. She married journalist Choi Yeon-taek in 1996 but divorced in 2000. She remarried in 2021 to the CEO of taxi franchise company Jin Mobility.
