Olympic Silver Medalist Hwang Dae-heon to Address Controversies Post-World Championships
Hwang Dae-heon, who clinched two silver medals at the 25th Milan Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics, announced that he will soon address the various controversies surrounding him.

On October 2, Hwang took to Instagram to share his thoughts, stating, "After the Olympics, I spent a lot of time reflecting on the past and contemplating the future."

He expressed, "It has been heavy on my heart to see situations where stories about me, even those not based on facts, are accepted as truth. At the same time, I have been reflecting on whether my shortcomings have contributed to these misunderstandings."

Hwang continued, "Before it's too late, I feel the need to correct what needs correcting and honestly reflect on my shortcomings and mistakes. With the World Championships still ahead, I am focusing entirely on my role as an athlete. After the competition, I will organize my thoughts and speak candidly."

In addition to his announcement, Hwang noted, "This Olympics was perhaps the most physically and mentally challenging event I've participated in. It has prompted me to reflect on my shortcomings and resolve to mature not only as an athlete but also as a person."

Previously, Hwang has been labeled with the title 'Penalty King' due to incidents such as the 2019 'Lin Xiaojun (Korean name Lim Hyo-jun) incident' and repeated team kills against fellow teammate Park Ji-won.

Meanwhile, Hwang secured silver medals in the men's 1500m and 5000m relay in the short track category at the 25th Milan Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics.

Hello, this is Hwang Dae-heon.
First, I sincerely thank all the fans who supported me with unwavering hearts during the 2026 Milan Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics.

I also extend my deepest gratitude to the officials of the Korea Skating Union, the Korean Sports & Olympic Committee, Gangwon Province, and Team Galaxy. Your support and trust have been an invaluable source of strength for me.

This Olympics was one of the most physically and mentally challenging times among all the competitions I've participated in. However, it was also a meaningful time for me to reflect on my short track career and strengthen myself.
I have resolved to reflect on my shortcomings and mature not only as an athlete but also as a person.

After the Olympics, I have been reflecting on the past and thinking a lot about the future. It has been heavy on my heart to see situations where stories about me, even those not based on facts, are accepted as truth. At the same time, I have been reflecting on whether my shortcomings have contributed to these misunderstandings. Therefore, before it's too late, I feel the need to correct what needs correcting and honestly reflect on my shortcomings and mistakes.

With the World Championships still ahead, I am focusing entirely on my role as an athlete. After the competition, I will organize my thoughts and speak candidly.

I sincerely thank everyone who has always supported and watched over me. I will repay you with a more responsible image in the future. Thank you.
