Controversy Surrounds Ji So-yeon and Yang Mi-ra's Japan Trip Video Released Near Korean Independence Day
Actresses Ji So-yeon and Yang Mi-ra have come under fire for releasing a video of their trip to Japan, coinciding with Korea's Independence Movement Day.

On February 28, Ji So-yeon uploaded a video titled 'I'm a Free Woman from Today!! (Japan Trip with Yang Mi-ra)' on her YouTube channel 'Ji So-yeon Song Jae-hee's Bellarie.'

The video shows the two traveling to Takamatsu, Japan, in mid-February. During the entry process, Yang Mi-ra mentioned being thoroughly searched, which drew attention. However, criticism followed due to the video's release just a day before March 1st.

March 1st marks the anniversary of the 1919 Korean Declaration of Independence against Japanese colonial rule. On this day, many celebrities, including G-Dragon, Girls' Generation's Seohyun, and WINNER's Kang Seung-yoon, shared photos of the Korean flag or messages honoring the nation's martyrs on social media.

Netizens criticized the timing, saying, 'Why release a Japan trip video right before Independence Day?' and 'The timing is unfortunate.'

Ji So-yeon, born in 1986, is 39 years old. She majored in Acting Arts at Sungkyunkwan University and debuted in the 2013 MBC daily drama 'Shining Romance.' In 2017, she married actor Song Jae-hee. The couple overcame infertility after five years of marriage, welcoming a daughter in January 2023 and twins in September.
