Super Junior's Choi Siwon Faces Political Controversy Amid Legal Action by SM Entertainment

Super Junior member Choi Siwon has found himself embroiled in a political controversy, prompting his agency to announce impending legal action. Amidst the turmoil, Choi drew attention by posting a Bible verse on his social media.

On the 23rd, Choi shared Ecclesiastes 12:13 on his SNS, stating, "Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind." This post came just a day after SM Entertainment announced its intention to pursue legal measures.

Previously, on the 19th, Choi posted the phrase "불의필망, 토붕와해" on his social media. The phrase translates to "injustice will surely perish" and "collapse like crumbling earth and shattered tiles," respectively.

On the same day, former President Yoon Seok-yeol was sentenced to life imprisonment for his role as the leader of a rebellion related to the 12/3 emergency martial law incident. Online speculation arose, suggesting that Choi's post was a subtle commentary on the verdict.

On the 22nd, SM Entertainment announced through their artist protection center 'KWANGYA 119' that they would be taking legal action. The notice stated, "We have confirmed the creation and posting of malicious content, including personal attacks and insults, against our artist Choi Siwon." The agency has filed a complaint with law enforcement based on evidence gathered through internal monitoring.

Choi Siwon previously faced criticism in September last year for posting a tribute to the late Charlie Kirk, a conservative political activist in the United States. Choi later deleted the post, explaining, "Regardless of political stance, I was simply mourning a tragedy as a family man and a Christian."
