BLACKPINK has become the first artist in the world to surpass 100 million subscribers on YouTube, ahead of their new album release.
According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK's YouTube channel reached this milestone on the evening of the 21st at 7:31 PM. This achievement marks the highest and first-ever record among all global artists, achieved approximately 9 years and 8 months after the channel was launched on June 28, 2016.
The surge in subscribers accelerated following the promotion of their upcoming mini-album [DEADLINE]. Since the announcement video released on the 15th of last month, the channel has been gaining an average of 10,000 new subscribers daily, reflecting the global fans' anticipation for their new musical journey.
On YouTube, a platform reshaping the global music industry, subscriber count is a key indicator of a dedicated fanbase. This milestone confirms the continued expansion of BLACKPINK's fandom.
Previously, in July 2020, BLACKPINK became the first non-English speaking artist to enter the top 5 most subscribed YouTube channels. They surpassed renowned pop stars like Ariana Grande, Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Marshmello, and Justin Bieber, eventually claiming the top spot among global artists in September 2021.
Their view count is equally impressive. BLACKPINK has produced 50 videos with over 100 million views each, and their official YouTube channel has accumulated a total of 41.1 billion views. This achievement has been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as the 'band with the most views on YouTube.'
BLACKPINK is set to release their mini-album [DEADLINE] on the 27th at 2 PM KST. The album includes five tracks: the title track 'GO', pre-released song 'JUMP', 'Me and my', 'Champion', and 'Fxxxboy'. YG Entertainment stated, "As the title [DEADLINE] suggests, the album is filled with 'unforgettable peak moments' and 'the brightest present of BLACKPINK'."
