On the premiere episode of MBC's 'The Season of Your Radiance' (directed by Jung Sang-hee, Kim Young-jae/written by Jo Sung-hee) aired on the 20th at 9:50 PM, the tragic story of Song Ha-ran (played by Lee Sung-kyung) and Sun Woo-chan (played by Chae Jong-hyeop), who were separated by a lab explosion in Boston seven years ago, was depicted.
In the episode, Song Ha-ran, who was once a bright and cheerful designer, traveled to the U.S. to meet her studying abroad boyfriend, only to be devastated by the news of his death in a horrific accident shortly after her arrival. Having lost her parents and now her lover, Song Ha-ran broke down, crying, "Chan is dead," and subsequently shut herself off from others, enduring seven years of pain as a cold-hearted chief designer.
Miraculously surviving and becoming a world-renowned animator, Sun Woo-chan returned to Seoul after seven years and fatefully reunited with Song Ha-ran. Discovering her in danger at an art gallery, Sun Woo-chan instinctively called out her name to save her, but Song Ha-ran, still traumatized by the past, did not recognize him and treated him as a stranger.
The two met again through an animation collaboration project, and a peculiar tension arose between them. Sun Woo-chan presented a character named 'Won,' inspired by Song Ha-ran, to CEO Kim Na-na (played by Lee Mi-sook), revealing his complex emotions. The tension heightened when Song Ha-ran noticed a burn scar on Sun Woo-chan's shoulder, a remnant of the past accident, sparking her suspicions.
Towards the end of the episode, Song Ha-ran became certain that the person who saved her was Sun Woo-chan and fiercely questioned him, asking, "Was it you who called my name at the gallery?" She demanded to know how a man she had never met knew her name and what he was hiding, to which Sun Woo-chan responded with tearful eyes. The revelation that the name Song Ha-ran cried out seven years ago was not Sun Woo-chan but 'Kang Hyuk-chan' added a twist, amplifying curiosity about Sun Woo-chan's hidden story and the couple's conflicting memories as the plot unfolds.
