The latest episode of KBS2's 'The Return of Superman' delivered a touching experience as it showcased the miraculous journey of Haru, who celebrated her first birthday.
Aired on the 18th, the 609th episode of 'The Return of Superman' featured the theme 'Day by Day, Already a Year,' with hosts Kim Jong-min and Lalal. The episode captured the heartwarming moments of 'Superman' families becoming blessings to each other during the festive season. For Shim Hyung-tak, Haru was a miraculous presence that brought the joy of a bustling family, while for 'Son of the Wind' Lee Jong-beom, grandson Go Tae-hyun was a reminder of his wife's gratitude. The episode achieved an impressive nationwide viewership rating of 4.4%, dominating the holiday TV screens, according to Nielsen Korea.
Saya's homemade video chronicling Haru's growth over the year brought tears to the eyes of Hyung-tak, Saya, and even the grandfather. Haru, focused on her video, giggled, bringing smiles to her family. Saya remarked, "I think I'll cry every time I watch this video. Is this a mother's heart?" Hyung-tak responded, "Haru has grown up healthy without getting sick, thanks to a wonderful mom," expressing his gratitude to Saya.
The celebration continued with heartfelt speeches from mom, dad, and grandfather. Despite not speaking Korean, the grandfather practiced diligently to deliver his message in Korean, saying, "Happy birthday, Haru! Grandpa loves you very much," which moved everyone.
Haru, the star of the party, charmed everyone in her colorful hanbok, delighting online aunts and uncles. From the photoshoot to the end, Haru's bright smile and her babbling "thank you" to family and guests left everyone in awe.
Meanwhile, 25-month-old Go Tae-hyun, the great-grandson of 'Son of the Wind,' showed interest in his uncle Lee Jung-hoo's toy bat swing, demonstrating his impressive throwing skills, proving his baseball golden DNA. Wearing a San Francisco Giants uniform gifted by Jung-hoo, Tae-hyun's future was humorously predicted by Lee Jong-beom, "Are you going to San Francisco with uncle?"
On New Year's morning, Tae-hyun, dressed in hanbok, visited his grandfather's house, bowing in his unique way, bringing smiles. Lee Jong-beom prepared a meal for his grandson, and Tae-hyun, inheriting the appetite of his baseball player grandfather, father, and uncle, devoured the meat, making his grandfather proud. Tae-hyun also showcased his leg strength, completing 40 stepper exercises, boasting his baseball golden DNA in both appetite and lower body strength.
After perfectly handling Tae-hyun's bath, Lee Jong-beom expressed his admiration for his wife, saying, "I respect my wife. I was away for games, but she raised Jung-hoo and Ga-hyun alone. I'm sorry and grateful to her."
