Tensions Rise in 'The Great Bake-Off' as Italian and French Pastry Chefs Face Off
In the upcoming episode of MBN's variety show 'The Great Bake-Off,' airing on the 15th, a brewing rivalry between Italian-trained pastry chef Kwon Sung-jun and French 5-star hotel head patissier Kim Na-rae takes center stage. Dubbed the 'Italy vs. France Showdown,' the two judges reveal their competitive spirits before the judging begins.

Previously, both judges captured attention with their strong opinions on Italian and French breads and desserts. As they observe the work of French contender 'French Rookie' Clément Bosch and Italian contender 'Three-Star Baker' Alessio Galli, they exchange playful banter, commenting, “It feels a bit buttery,” and “Do Italians prefer it oily?” heightening the tension.

In this episode, the list of 31 contestants who survived the first round with their 'signature bread' is revealed for the first time. However, the contestants are shocked when their rankings from 1st to 31st are disclosed immediately after entering the second round, exclaiming, “Isn't this a public execution?” and “Are they really going to freeze our rankings?”

One contestant, who barely made it to the second round in 31st place, expresses determination, saying, “This actually fuels my drive.” Curiosity peaks as viewers wonder who this 31st place contestant is.

The second round introduces a team challenge, where the surviving contestants are divided into eight teams. The rule that the entire team in 8th place will be automatically eliminated causes unrest among the participants, who react with, “That's brutal,” and “How is this fair?” Additionally, the unexpected appearance of top-tier 'Avengers' and unimaginable missions heighten the contestants' anxiety. The invisible battle among the second-round contestants draws significant interest as viewers anticipate the outcomes.

The production team stated, “Episode 3 marks the end of the first round, which garnered much attention from viewers, and the beginning of the second round, showcasing different aspects of the contestants. Following episodes 1 and 2, expect surprising new stories and twists. We ask for your continued interest.”

Meanwhile, 'The Great Bake-Off' is the first-ever 'K-Bakery Survival' show in Korea, aiming to select the world's best pastry chefs and leading the trend of 'K-Bread,' which has become more than just food. It airs every Sunday at 9:40 PM.
