K-pop group FIFTY FIFTY has teamed up with legendary British rock band Pink Floyd for a tribute project.
On October 10, FIFTY FIFTY released a cover video of 'Wish You Were Here' on their official YouTube channel. The video was also shared on Pink Floyd's official social media, garnering significant attention. This cover is part of a project celebrating the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's iconic song.
FIFTY FIFTY, the first Korean artists to participate in this project, expressed their thoughts through their agency. The members shared, "We enjoyed listening to rock music during our school days as part of the band club, and it's unbelievable to cover music from the legendary Pink Floyd. The fact that it's a tribute project makes it even more meaningful."
They added, "It feels like a dream come true, and we feel we've grown through this experience. It's special and an honor. We realized how amazing it is for music to resonate over time, and we aspire to be a team that provides strength and is remembered for a long time."
In preparing for this cover, FIFTY FIFTY focused on conveying the original song's emotion rather than showcasing vocal techniques. They restructured the latter part of the song to express longing in a conversational manner, which the members found particularly meaningful.
Jeon Hong-jun, CEO of ATTRAKT, stated, "The inspiration from Pink Floyd's music has been significant in planning Korean pop music. We are sincerely grateful and deeply honored to be connected with them through FIFTY FIFTY."
Gaining attention in the global market, FIFTY FIFTY plans to continue diverse musical activities following this collaboration.
